BIOLOGY AND SUSTAINABILITY RESEARCH DIVISION

Function

To enhance long-term sustainable productivity and improved management practices of the oil palm through:
  • efficient and optimum fertiliser delivery, supported with geospatial technology tools
  • development of reliable and cost-effective machines and tools to increase worker’s productivity
  • understanding physiological requirements of the oil palm and water use efficiency
  • understanding physiological requirements of the oil palm and water use efficiency
  • understanding of tropical peat in relation to cultivation, GHG emissions and carbon stock

 

Divisional Structure

The Biology and Sustainability Research Division is headed by a Director, assisted by Heads of each respective Research Units: Agronomy and Geospatial Technology Unit (AGT), Entomology and Integrated Pest Management (EIPM), Plant Pathology and Biosecurity Unit (PPB) and Peat Ecosystem and Biodiversity Unit (PEB).
