BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH DIVISION

Function

To enhance long-term sustainable productivity and improved management practices of the oil palm through:
  • efficient and optimum fertiliser delivery, supported with geospatial technology tools
  • development of reliable and cost-effective machines and tools to increase worker’s productivity
  • understanding physiological requirements of the oil palm and water use efficiency
  • understanding physiological requirements of the oil palm and water use efficiency
  • understanding of tropical peat in relation to cultivation, GHG emissions and carbon stock

 

Divisional Structure

The Biological Research Division is headed by a Director, assisted by Heads of each respective Research Units: Agronomy and Geospatial Technology Unit (AGT), Farm Mechanisation Unit (FMU), Applied Entomology & Microbiology Unit (AEM), Ganoderma and Diseases Research for Oil Palm Unit (GanoDROP) and Tropical Peat Research Institute (TROPI) Unit.
